I’m at a school that adds dates to the Parts of Term that are required to still be on campus for finals week. I have heard that the reason they don’t just built it into the schedule for the individual classes has something to do with room scheduling for longer class times during finals week. (Blink-stare in former professor.)

It caused no problems during the Compliance Survey. Finals Week is listed on the published Academic Calendar, and it only impacts one Part of Term – the one that lasts the full semester. Could we just not report that part? Sure, but the students are still required to be here for class, so they want it reported for BAH calculations. It’s compliant, and students would complain if we stopped. And those complaints (if made to GI Bill® Comparison Tool) could be found to be valid complaints.
