Prior Credit – Compliance Requirement

  • Yesterday I attended a regional SCO meeting. A couple attendees shared their recent compliance survey results. One of the topics that came up was regarding Prior Credit and what VA expects us to be doing to ensure student’s provide their transcripts. This came up in the last compliance survey I was a part of too. What is being required is:
    1. Contact students multiple times to request JST and other college transcripts
    2. Proof of contacts made in student file
    3. Evaluation of all transcripts
    4. Results of all transcript evaluations provided to student including no credit
    5. Evaluation result notifications in student file

    Anyone else hear similar at a recent compliance survey?
    What is your school doing to facilitate the above requirements?
    Do you order and pull student JSTs or do you have the students do it?
